Privacy policy

This policy is for https://shrinkclip.app (shrinkclip.app), operated as Shrink Clip. It describes what we collect, what we do not collect, and how ads and analytics work. If you only remember one line: your video file is not uploaded to us.

1. Video files

When you compress, convert, or crop a video, the file is read in your browser and processed with ffmpeg.wasm on your device. We do not operate a server that receives the footage. We cannot watch, store, share, or sell a file we never get. Closing the tab discards the in-memory copy.

The encoder program (a public WebAssembly binary, roughly 30 MB) is downloaded once from a public CDN or from this site if self-hosted, then cached by your browser. That download is the tool, not your media.

2. Information we do collect

The site is a static website. Our host may see standard server logs (IP address, browser type, page URL, time) for security and reliability. We do not use those logs to identify you or to inspect video contents.

If you email hello@shrinkclip.app, we receive whatever you write (name, address, message). We use it only to reply. Do not attach private video files to that email.

3. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, measurement ID G-Z7TR9PQ8BY, to count page views and basic device categories. This helps us see which tools are used. Analytics cookies are set by Google. We do not send filenames, video pixels, or file contents to Analytics.

You can opt out with Google’s tools and browser controls, including the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on where available.

4. Google AdSense and cookies

We show ads through Google AdSense (publisher ca-pub-9456541586301398) so the compressor can stay free. Google uses cookies and similar technology to serve and measure ads, which may be personalized based on your Google account and browsing, subject to your Google ad settings.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this or other sites. You can opt out of personalized Google ads at adssettings.google.com and learn more at Google’s advertising policy. We do not use your video files for advertising.

Ads are placed in reserved slots (top of page, desktop sidebar, under the progress bar during encoding, above the download button). They must not cover Download or the upload drop zone.

5. Local storage

We store your light/dark theme preference in localStorage on your device. We do not store videos there.

6. Children

The site is a general-purpose utility, not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. International visitors

Processing of video happens on your device. Analytics and ads are provided by Google and may involve servers outside your country. See Google’s privacy policy for that processing.

8. Changes

We will update this page if the product changes (for example, if we ever added an optional account — we have no plan to). The date at the top is the latest revision.
